About Me

I am Grace, a print-maker and sewer/seamstress based in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. I have been passionate about making and collecting art for as long as I can remember. My passion for sewing ignited during the covid-19 pandemic. It’s been my personal rebellion against fast fashion ever since and I am happy and proud to be wearing clothes that I have made. This newly found independence and agency over the clothes and materials I wear, have shaped me into the artist I am today. My screen printing journey began in summer 2024 after having lost my golden cage of a corporate job. Although it was scary at first - diving into the unknown and into an art form I didn’t know much about - it was the best thing to have happened to me.

About My Work

I like to create art that pulls fantasy into my reality. I often find myself in opposition with man-made systems, such as capitalism, patriarchy and “the way things have been done until now”. Being authentically me is challenging at times because it constantly requires strength to keep fighting against the man-made systems to be true to myself and my values. That’s why at times I wish I could make life easier for me and do the unthinkable - conform to what I often find myself standing up against. This inner struggle brings me to my art: through art I try to explore and express my struggles with the sharp edges of man-made concepts, and my desire for fantasy to be my reality.
